The Dawn Temple
10.30am - 11.30am
This presentation showcases the way in which being in nature, using a range of physical, embodied and expressive modalities, can support wellbeing. Combining Mountain Biking riding/skills development with Experiential and Creative Arts processes provides a unique way to engage participants in therapeutic work outside of the office space. By being physically active, going on adventures and making meaning of lived experience, change can occur in real time. The lessons learnt on the trail can be applied to daily life.
Intentional time outdoors can further foster relationships with nature – self, community and country. This presentation gives an overview of how mountain biking is being adapted worldwide as a vehicle for physically, emotional, mental and cultural wellbeing. It also shares the learnings from a therapeutic Mountain Bike Therapy practice on Djaara Country, in Castlemaine and Bendigo.
